Bridge Marine celebrated 25 years in business on Saturday 27th June with an extra special demo weekend.The sun shone and the boat yard was bustling with people visiting the Suzuki dealership to take advantage of special offers in the chandlery and to get out on the Thames to test some of the many boat/engine packages available, including Suzuki powered Ranieri spots boats and a variety of inflatables.
Situated on the Middlesex bank of the Thames by the Walton Bridge in Shepperton, Bridge Marine has been a Suzuki dealership since 2005. When Nicky and David Prior bought the Bridge Marine boat yard back in June 1984 it had a collection of rundown buildings, a crumbling slipway and only 6 boats on site. These days the business has excellent facilities including; a re-built slipway, boat lifter/transporter, a launching tractor, servicing workshops and a well stocked chandlery offering everything a boater should need from clothing and accessories through to a comprehensive range of Suzuki 4-stroke outboard engines. There are also over 100 boats based at the boat yard and a waiting list of people wanting to keep their boats there.
The business is currently bucking the trend of the economic downturn and since the Priors’ retirement in 2001 it has been run by their daughter Jenny Beagle assisted by her team of friendly staff. When asked about the secret of their success Jenny replied, “Because of our customer focus. We have a great team of people here who all enjoy what they do and we try our best to make sure that every single customer is made welcome and given the same level of customer service because a happy customer is a returning customer!”
